Belgium-France, when alcohol, cigarettes and chocolate become an issue!

Dans la banlieue lilloise, se trouvent plusieurs doublets-frontaliers dont celui d’Halluin (France) et de Ménin (Belgique). La ville belge propose de nombreux produits moins chers aux Français: tabac, alcool, chocolats… Le dimanche, la ville belge est prise d’assaut par les consommateurs français. Sur la photo, le carrefour marque ici la frontière. Le mobilier urbain (en particulier les panneaux), très dense, fournit des indications sur l’endroit où se trouve la séparation entre les deux pays.

In the suburbs of Lille, there are several twin-cities like Halluin (France) and Menen (Belgium). The Belgian city offers many cheaper products: tobacco, alcohol, chocolates … On Sundays, the Belgian town was stormed by French consumers. In the photo, the crossroads mark the border here.
